Abstract

Translation, literary or specialized, considered as the transition, the passage from a foreign language-culture to another language-culture, makes it possible to enrich our knowledge in all areas of life.

In this article, we examine the issues and characteristics of specialized translation. Thus, the emphasis will be placed above all on the translatological strategies to be adopted for specialized texts: equivalence, polysemy, the relevance to which translators resort of texts belonging to different fields, whether legal, medical, technical, economic or other.

Thus, our objective is to show how specialized translation is really different in nature from literary translation, and also to prove that the translation of specialized texts poses constant lexical and terminological challenges.

At the same time, the study that we are going to carry out will allow us to see that when translating any type of text, the only mastery of two languages – source language and target language – is not enough, it is necessary also have basic knowledge in the appropriate fields.
