Abstract

In the era of globalization, cultural mediation plays a preponderant role in mutual understanding between peoples. Linguistic barriers are no longer the main obstacle to communication, on the other hand the transmission of cultural knowledge is reinforced more and more throughout the world thanks to the translation, in particular that of literary works which, by their literary nature, convey the ideas specific to each nation. Within the framework of this paper, we will try to answer the question which we ask ourselves: What role does the literary translator play in the current cultural and linguistic context? This issue leads us to reflect on the literary text as a bearer of cultural pitfalls, on the contribution of the translation of literary works to the enrichment of languages, to the promotion of diversity but also to the mutual understanding of cultures.
