Abstract

Abstract: Since time immemorial, libraries have played an important role in disseminating the knowledge acquired, in informing and educating citizens. Contemporary libraries not only pursue this function, but they make it even more accessible for any citizen and in unlimited time and space, to search for information of its interest through electronic libraries.

At the same time, the library of the 21st century is not only the place of preservation of books, nor the place of electronic data accessibility, but it is also the space for active research, scientific communication, exchange of ideas, teaching and reflection. History has preserved us – whether in libraries or manuscript museums, valuable informations about Georgian women of the first half of the 20th century.

In this paper, we will analyze written sources on the life and work of Georgian women scientists in Georgia and pursue their scientific, political and literary activities in emigration. We will focus especially on written sources, journals and newspapers where their own texts or metatexts on their activities are published and preserved not only in national libraries but also foreign ones.
