La narration comme un outil pédagogique dans la production écrite au niveau A2: exemple d’un atelier de roman photo à l’Université X
Keywords:
narration, photo novel, A2 level, written productionAbstract
Written production is a major concern in the teaching
and learning of French. At the A2 level, narration becomes a central
topic, requiring learners to use their linguistic knowledge and
imagination to tell stories. Among narrative genres, the photo novel
appears to be a playful, structured, and effective pedagogical tool
that fosters learning motivation, encourages creativity, promotes
teamwork, and contributes to the development of students’ social,
cultural, and linguistic skills.
At X University, a photo novel workshop has been implemented
for three months. Students are invited to work in groups and
create photo novels using their own photos and stories. They have
the freedom to decide on their narrative content and the way they
wish to express their stories.
In this study, we will present the pedagogical context of X
University, which inspired the creation of this workshop. We will
examine theories on narration and its role in language learning
that support this initiative. We will then describe the workshop,
highlighting its benefits and areas for improvement following the
experiment. Subsequently, we will analyze some student projects
to illustrate how narration within the photo novel framework
contributes to their linguistic skill development. We aim to
demonstrate an improvement in students’ textual coherence and
lexical richness through the use of the photo novel. Additionally,
they should experience increased motivation and engagement in
writing activities.
