Difficultés de la traduction technique du français vers le vietnamien

Abstract

This paper reports on a study about spirulina based on a corpus of technical translation from French to Vietnamese,
with an objective of enriching knowledge on this particular type of translation. Our research questions hereby are: How can the
difficulties in specialized translation be categorized? What are the factors that have an influence on the translation of a technical text? The proposed research approach is as follows: First, the theoretical framework relating to the field of specialized translation will
be established with a focus set on specific features of technical texts, then on the terminology and the difficulties that arise on a
terminological level for the translator. After introducing the analysis methodology, the results of our research will be presented, followed by critical comments. The results show that the majority of difficulties in translating technical documents are terminology-related and linked to the absence of external resources. Our study also identified differents key factors as well as their influence level on the translation process.
