Abstract

Each language has its own matrix to reflect the concepts. The general content is conveyed through various metaphorical links. It is difficult to translate lexical units having the purely national trait, we must correctly match their equivalents not only semantically but also with an appropriate formulation or reconstruction. In our study we analyze the specificities of the translation of phraseological units, their metaphorical nature and structural models. We will also try to discuss the peculiarities of translating proper nouns (literary characters). Obviously the lexeme is not only a linguistic sign, but also a cultural phenomenon. Culture plays an important role in the formation of phraseologies. Metaphorization contributes to the cultural and linguistic segment. This article presents the main trends in the study of cultural aspects of phraseologies. We distinguish cultural links from fixed units. We establish the standards for the operation of metaphors and models for translation, the corresponding meanings of phraseological units. Despite the similarities, the French and Georgian phraseologies are characterized by distinctive specificities.
