Abstract

Abstract: In a world of perpetual changes, marked by the evolution of new techonologies, one has to adapt and benefit from all these advantages offered to the users. The computer and the internet access offer more or less specialized information. In this article, we proposed to present how the new technologies represent means of support for translators and learners who are preoccupied by this area of interest in translating different texts from past centuries. In our case, the main text that represents our source is Dissertations sur les apparitions des anges, des démons et des esprits, et sur les revenants et vampires de Hongrie, de Bohême, de Moravie et de Silésie, written by Augustin Calmet in 1746. Thanks to the evolution of the technology, one can have access to this old text on this electronic source: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k15187988. image. In this case, the pre-translation is compulsory for the translation because it represents a religious text which refers to multiple historical events. Therefor, to transfer the meaning of this paperwork, one has to do rigorous research which is possible thanks to a large variety of encyclopedias, essays, autobiographies, scientific papers or complex dictionaries which may be found online. One can also search on specialized web sites for information about history, customs, manners and the culture of different nations from the European areas and from all over the world. The main objective of our paper is to highlight the importance of online resources in the translation of old texts and to show how one may use them in order to obtain a good translation.
