La traduction des références culturelles: entre effacement et préservation (une analyse comparative des traductions française et italienne du roman Temă pentru acasă de Nicolae Dabija)
Abstract
Abstract: Our paper is intended to reveal the cultural canon that was created in post-war Bessarabia despite all the unfavorable geopolitical conditions. The former Romanian region which became an annex of Russia in the formula of the Soviet Union, makes efforts to keep its traditions and culture and transmit them to new generations. Even if Stalin pursued the expatriation of the intellectual elite of this Romanian region, the national spirit resists here thanks to the men of letters who are born after ‘30. They are the ones who will contribute to the preservation of the language. They are the ones who will write the story of this region separated of its historical country. The memorial and testimonial literatures are surely included in the cultural canon of Bessarabia, because these literatures are speaking of the constitution of the cultural canon itself. It’s like a book about a book.
Our paper will focus exactly on Nicolae Dabija – bessarabian author whose first novel entitled Temă pentru acasă was considered in 2010 the most read book in Moldova in the last ten years. During 9 months it was borrowed by libraries readers more than 100,000 times. This book is certainly part of the cultural heritage of Bessarabia. It tells the drama of Romanians deported to Siberia who managed to survive thanks to their belief in good and God.
It will be a traductological approach. We consider that it’s important to study this element of the cultural canon as an Other who tries to be known and hopes to be part of universal canon in the conditions of a multicultural Europe that promotes unity through diversity. We set out to surprise the way in which the translators have transposed in Italian and in French the Romanian cultural references that the novel contains in original.
