Abstract

Abstract: The article is dedicated to the selection, classification and to the particularities of translation of frequently English phraseological units of Latin origin into Romanian and Russian. There were selected 121 English phraseological units from the professor Koonin’s English-Russian Phraseological Dictionary. Moscow, 1984 that were classified according to his classification.

The domain of phraseological units and phraseology, in general, remains one of the most controversial aspects of the English, Romanian, Russian, French languages, etc. Some phraseological units have a lexical unitary behavior as the result of having lost their lexical autonomy of at least one of its elements being lead by the “semantic unity realized by the losing of its proper individuality as a result of it”, considers Mioara Avram [1].
