FOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF EURASIANISM
Abstract
This article examines the concept of Euroasianism related to ideas such as: “Moscow – Third Rome,” “Holy Russia,” and “Political Hesychasm.” First Chapter studies the various features of the idea of Euroasianism in its historical and political contexts. It is shown that this concept never was fully articulated and still is going under constant re-interpretation. The second chapter deals with the exploration of historical backgrounds of the particular notions. It comes to a presumption that even though Euroasinism has its root-principles in Byzantine and has its affinities with universalistic claims of the Constantinople Patriarchate, it is a specific Muscovite-Russian idea.
